There are 16 IITs and 31 NITs in India. IITs and NITs are the leading engineering colleges of the country or the most desired colleges of every aspirant. But the number of seats available in these colleges is very less as compared to the number of aspirants. Around 20 lakh students appeared in different engineering entrance exam held across all over the country whereas the number of seats in the top institute IITs and NITs is around 30000, but that really doesn’t mean that there are no other good colleges in India.
1. BITS PILANI
The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. 2) IIIT HYDERABAD
The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad was established in 1998 and it has since then managed to become one of the most prestigious and coveted institutions for engineering studies. The college focuses largely on research even at the UG levels which is uncommon for most engineering colleges in the country. It is one of the best engineering college for computer science in India.
Delhi Technological University, formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering came into existence in the year 1941 to cater the needs of Indian industries for trained technical manpower with practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge. DTU to be a leading World Class Technology University playing its role as a key node in National and Global Knowledge.
4) IIIT ALLAHABAD
The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) was established in 1999, as a center of excellence in Information Technology and allied areas. The institute was conferred “Deemed University” status by Govt. of India in the year 2000. The 100 acre campus. IIIT-A is a centre of excellence in information technology & related areas.
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is among the top engineering institutions in North India. The institute is affiliated with the Delhi University’s Technological faculty. The admission for NSIT was done in conjunction with the Delhi College of Engineering but since DCE was changed to DTU, it offers B.Tech programs for Delhi University students. It was established in 1983 and has since remained one of the top technology colleges in the nation.
6) BIT MESRA
BIT Mesra located 16 kms from Ranchi in Jharkhand. BIT Mesra through its rich heritage of academic excellence. Established in 1955 by visionary-industrialist Mr. B.M. Birla, it is today one of the most premier engineering destinations in India. It is the first technical institution to establish a Department of Space Engineering & Rocketry, The first institution to be granted autonomous status in the year 1972 under UGC Act. It is working on mission.
7) JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY
Jadavpur University is at present an internationally recognized premier university of the country. It is an urban university with a global perspective and is dedicated to creating leaders who will fashion a more humane and just world. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the University not only engages itself in teaching and research of international quality, but also provides societal services for the benefit of rural and urban populations .
8) COE PUNE
College of Engineering, Pune is an autonomous engineering college with an affiliation to Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune, Maharashtra. Established in 1854, it is one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia, after IIT Roorkee. The institute contends that its autonomy now grants it greater flexibility in dynamically changing its syllabus to suit the changing needs of the industry.
VIT University, formerly called Vellore Engineering College, is an Indian institute of higher education and a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act. It is one of the best Private Institutes in the country.
